Blogspot Title Optimization

Most of the new templates available on Blogspot already provide proper indexing of their individual pages, however many of the old templates or those messed up by de blogger, have problems to be correctly indexed in the search engines. If you are a Blogspot user and don’t mind to use some tricks to improve your Google search results, here is how you can optimise the titles in each of the entry pages, archives and homepage: copy the code that is presented below, make the appropriate adjustments, and put it in to the row for the title in the html code of the template.

Note that there is a blank space in each of the tags, just after the "<", which will have to eliminate before implementing in the blogger template. Implementation of this code is the responsibility of the author and you should always save a copy before begin making changes. The use of the "" here is just a matter of preference, some people use ":", "-".You don’t need to add more information then the name of the blog or the entry. Personally, I recommend the use of the name in the blog title on all pages and usually after the article title. The exceptions, I reserve them for strong brands or sites that depend on searches related to the mark / entity, where the trade name should come first.

Here’s an example: I used Google to search for some words in a title post of my blog and my post it’s the FIRST (nº 1) out of 1,960,000 results, see it below.

Increase your Adsense Profit!

Google AdSense is probably the company that generates more profit in the world with online advertising, with Pay Per Click and by page impression. It is certainly an indispensable tool for those who want to make money online. You can generate thousands of dollars through this tool. It takes time but the medium and long term can be a good profit generator. For this to happen it is necessary to adopt some strategies as proper ads placement. Since the initial steps are made, AdSense runs on autopilot and you no longer need to update or upgrade to generate money. To make a better profit from AdSense you should follow some basic steps in the integration of ads on our site/blog.

1- Integrate the links of the ads in your template instead of making them “glow on the dark”.

Adjust the colours of the ads link to the colour of your site. This ensures more clicks. By using different colours to highlight the links will make the reader automatically associate the links advertising or spam and will cause lost of interest on them. It is the same when we came to the house and there are dozens of advertising emails in the mailbox, you see 1 or 2 and the rest goes to the trash. Merge the ads to your site.

2- Use the template "Large Rectangle (336X280)" it’s the format with higher CTR.

Some time ago I heard about this and I did an experiment on page articles, the fact is that little by little my AdSense earnings began to increase more significantly. Use it in individual pages and see your earnings increase.

3- Placement is crucial, no links at the bottom of the page.
Some people like to put ads on the bottom of the page in the footer area. This may devalue the clicks and is where the worst of the AdSense earnings are made. If you want ads on the bottom of the page suggest find a sponsor to pay for it and avoid using AdSense at the end of the page. The places where the ads work best are in the sidebar and near the headers. Tip: While in terms of usability the sidebars should be in the right often a sidebar on the left generate more earnings. I wish that a reader did a study on this. What is the best location of the sidebar?

4- Text links work best than images?

It is a question irrelevant. The most experienced users are tired of navigating a site with pictures to affiliates, soon become automatic link an image to advertising and from this point they avoid clicking on the image. Text links, integrated into the colour scheme of the site, links appear to be normal and are no longer associated with bad advertising.

5- Create proper channels.

AdSense allows creating channels to better analyze the ads in your site. Many people pass this step and give no importance. With the help of channels you can know the placement of ads that is working better. You can rethink strategies to better monetize and know the spaces that generate less profit. Performance is important.
There are many important aspects that people no longer forget when working with AdSense. Take some time to optimize the ads, try a different placement, and talk with others on strategies that work best. If you are interested in doing studies with AdSense I suggest intervals of 3 to 4 weeks to try different placements and different ads. Don’t forget to leave a comment here...

How To: Start making money with Google AdSense?

I've been reading a bit about how people can make money off their Web site by joining up with the Google AdSense program, but I really don't understand how it all works. Do I need to find advertisers? Do I bill them for showing up on my site? Or does Google do all this?
You're not alone in being interested in this Google program. Leveraging its powerful page analysis system,
Google's AdSense program automatically matches the best possible advertisements with the content on your Web page, making the ads magically quite relevant to your content.
Behind the scenes, it works like this: an advertiser goes to the
Google AdWords system, signs up, and creates one or more advertisements that they want to pay to have appeared either on Google's search result pages or on "content pages". Those content pages are Web sites run by individuals and organizations that include AdSense, which is the "consume" side of this equation.
What makes this more interesting is that advertisers don't pay to have their adverts show up on either Google or separate content sites, but instead pay when the ads are clicked by customers, what we call "Pay Per Click" or PPC. A percentage of the amount that the company pays Google for displaying the ad is then shared with the AdSense-enabled web site owner.
If, say, the advertiser pays $10.00 for a visitor to their site through
AdWords, then Google will pay a percentage of that amount (the exactly amount has not been stated by the company) to you, perhaps $2.00, perhaps more.
I realize that $2.00 doesn't sound like much money, but if you have a few hundred visitors a week, and some percentage of them click on these adverts, you could easily make $20-$100 or much (much!) more from your site each week, without having to do any work other than add the special
AdSense code to the pages in the first place.
It's simple, easy to accomplish, you never have to negotiate (or even talk) with advertisers, you don't have to bill anyone at all, and every month or two you'll get a nice little check from Google corporate. Nice!
So let's talk about the exact steps required to actually get going with the
AdSense program. First and foremost, you need to sign up for the AdSense program, which you can do by clicking in the button:

Note that when you sign up, you'll need to specify a Web site or weblog that you plan on incorporating AdSense: not every site is approved, however, so make sure yours has valuable and unique content and a design that doesn't include too many advertisements.
Once you're approved, it's time to log in and configure your new
AdSense advertisement to include on your site!
When you first log in, you'll see the following navigation bar:

Click on "AdSense Setup" and it will be given 3 options to you, AdSense for Content; AdSense for Search and Referrals.

Lets leave AdSense for Search and Referrals for latter.
Click on AdSense for Content and you'll be ready to configure your ad. Now, don't worry: configuration is pretty easy and kinda fun too, you get to pick colours, sizes, and much more.
Once you've clicked on the "AdSense for Content" tab, your next step will be to decide what type of advertisements you want Google to serve up on your own pages:

I suggest you start out with a text "Ad unit", as shown here: the other type of content adverts are less generally useful, less flexible, and typically also have a much lower payout, according to the grapevine.
The next section of your task is to specify the format and layout of your AdSense ad, and there are a rather amazing number of different size and format options. Google has a helpful Google AdSense Ad Formats that's worth a quick peek.
Here at
2refresh, I use different types of ads, must of them are blended with the page, making the page easier to the eye. Your layout will inevitably be different and you might choose a different layout entirely. Further, you are allowed to have up to three different ad units on a given page, so you can experiment with them one atop the other, adjacent to each other, or interspersed with your content. Just try to remember that if there's no content, there's no page.
Now that you've picked an ad layout size (and yes, you can change it at any time too) it's time to have fun: changing the colour scheme of the ad itself. My handy tip: use a border colour that's the same as the page in question (as I do on this page) so that it's less overt that the ads are actually advertisements. It helps people not gloss over them and, hopefully, click on the ads a bit more frequently.
The built-in colour schemes are nice too, of course, if you want to use them, but just as with the sizes, I strongly recommend that you experiment with different colour schemes and see if you get a better percentage of clickthrus and greater revenue. Perhaps once a week you can change to another colour scheme and then track week-by-week what works best?
The next step is to specify an alternate Ad URL or colour

The idea behind alternate ads is that sometimes no advertisers have bid on advertising for the keywords, leading Google to a pickle: what to display? By default, it instead displays public service ads (PSAs), but if you want to create an HTML snippet that produces the same size content, you can use that instead, or, you can simply have a solid box in the color of your choice that blends into the design of your site.
Now you can chose a Channel that let you organize your
AdSense results by Web site (if you have more than one site) or by areas of your site. On this site, for example, I have a channel for "home page leaderboard" and another for "large rectangle" so I can compare how each format is doing, rather than just guessing in the aggregate. It's much easier to start correctly than to retrofit this sort of thing, so take the time and set up a basic channel or two to begin categorizing your results.

Choose a name for the AdSense unit and then save it.

Finally, you've made all the settings you need and it's time to grab the HTML snippet that'll generate the ad block on your own site!

Your specifics will be a bit different from what you see in this, but the code will generally look identical. Just Select all the text in the box, and then Copy.
Now open up a page where you'd like to include the AdSense code or a template if you're working with something like a weblog system, and Paste in the new code, and that's it!
Important Warning: do not click on your ads!
I think one of the most common mistakes that new
AdSense participants make is to click on an advert or three to "make a quick buck". Sounds good in theory, but you'll end up kicked out of the AdSense program if you click on ads shown on your own pages, which is not a good strategy for earning money!
Anyway, that's the basic set of steps. Don't delay and don't wait for tomorrow: go to the beginning of this article to sign up for
AdSense, or do it right here then go through these steps and you can start turning your cost centre of a Web site into a revenue generation system, modest or otherwise!

OMG II

After I lost my mind trying to get the AdSense right, I’m just starting out with trying to monetize my blog, there are a few things I have to consider, such as aesthetics (meaning I cannot just place macive ads around my blog), and traffic (meaning the more traffic I have, the better revenues I’ll get).So I decided to experiment with layouts and colour schemes.

My friend said that “there are two schools of thought when it comes to AdSense design and laying out. One, some people seem to click more when the ads look like they’re part of the site’s layout. Two, others seem to get more clickthroughs when the ads are more visible, such as when they are contrasting with the site’s layout.”

And He show me a AdSense heatmap.

All I have to do is put AdSense ads in strategically places of my blog? I asked

He said: “This is very much dependent on your target audience, and the general design of your blog. One good rule of thumb is to determine what looks good yourself, and to ask feedback from others, whether your ads are acceptable. If they stand out too much, you risk making your blog ugly. If they blend in too much, people might not click on them. The right balance would make your readers think your ads are part of your site’s layout (as sponsors) and would generate enough interest for clicking.
Be patient! Give it time. AdSense adjustments may not take effect instantly. Well, design changes will take effect as soon as you paste in the code and publish the new design. But what’s more important is how your readers react to your ads–whether they click more, and whether you get more dollars per click.”

AdSense? OMG

Oh my god, I’ve just heard of AdSense, they say that is by far the most popular contextual advertising system today. It’s ease-of-installation and use, and it’s compatible with most blogging packages available. This includes Blogger (YES), which is also owned by Google. Blogger even has AdSense setup built into its blog editor.

A friend of mine gave me some tips:

He said: There are several things to consider when starting out. You cannot just plaster ads all
over your blog in the hopes that you’ll earn a few dollars because chances are you will probably earn very little if your AdSense campaign is not well planned and well executed.

He said: Are you willing to adjust your blog’s design and layout to give space to ads?

I said: Hell yeah!

He said: Not all bloggers are sensitive about design. But do consider that once you put in ads on your sidebar or main body (or anywhere for that matter), you will have to include additional design elements to your blog. If done improperly, your site can even appear cluttered with AdSense ads! Also some bloggers would rather have their ads unobtrusive, so the focus would be the main content. Others prefer the ads to be the first thing that a reader sees–this can bring in more clicks (and more money!) but at the expense of your readers being directed elsewhere once they click.

I said: that’s all?

He said: No. Is your traffic good enough? If you just started blogging recently, then you might want to increase your readership first before putting ads on your site. You can usually expect a clickthrough rate of less than 10% (and anything very high would look suspicious to Google and you might get banned). You might just get frustrated if you don’t get the clickthroughs and the revenues that you’re aiming for, if you have low traffic.

I said: how many views do I nead?

He said: One good rule of thumb in forecasting monthly revenues is using the daily page views x a theoretical clickthrough of 3% x $ 0.10 per click (this is highly dependent on your topic/keywords/niche!) x 30 days. So if you get 500 page views per day, your estimate would be $ 1.50 per day or $ 45 per month. But since the AdSense minimum is $ 100 before releasing a check, you better target $ 100 per month at least. And for this you would need about 1000 page views per day.

I said: 1000 per day, omg, I don’t have that many friends…

Walk like an Egyptian

Now that I finally a good way to promote my blog, it’s time to start selling the blog space to the advertisers, I have lots of free time and several bills to pay. To get the money rolling isn’t going to be a problem as I red in thousands of sites and blogs, must of them blogging about some pyramid scheme, that make me think that the Internet is ruled by the Egyptians. Once more I was saved by Google friends (I didn’t ask if they were Egyptians) who showed me a great idea that they had, they call it Adsense, I think is about some Ads that make Sense and you put them in your blog and if the blog visitors that find them interesting they will click on the ads and I’ll receive a small amount from the friends in Google (I hope that they won’t pay in Egyptian pound)
